Coghlans Folding Stove

Burns Coghlan’s Camp Heat or any other type of canned fuel or solidified alcohol. Coated steel construction. This would be used to boil water or cook something in a small pan.  I read on another site that a gentleman built a small fire inside the stove and that worked well for cooking also.

The good 'ole Dutch Oven

The Dutch Oven is a great choice for alternative cooking.  This site has some great tips on how to season and use your Dutch Oven.

The Rocket Stove

Here is another alternative stove to cook without electricity or gas.  It is simple to make, and uses very little fuel.
" Rocket stoves, because of their design, allow you to use 75% less fuel (wood) than a normal fire and will be invaluable in your food storage. I was able to boil 2 cups of water for 20 minutes using just a handful of small sticks and a match. Rocket stoves come in all sizes but the idea is the same. You can buy them or make your own. Making your own will cost under $20. A version of the one pictured here can be made for almost nothing. "

Wonder Oven--thermal cooker

Wonder Boxes work like vacuum flasks.
In these days when we are being warned of
worldwide shortages of food and fuel,
this wonder box and it's simplicity is designed
to keep food at the temperature needed for cooking.
Using very little fuel you only use about 15 minutes of energy
to bring the food to the required temperature
and then put it into the
Wonder Box.  It acts like a thermos.
On the flip side, it will also keep ice cream cold
for about 4 hours.

This site has instructions for using the oven as well as the pattern for making it. I have tried it myself and it works very well.  It sews together easily and the polystyrene beads were easy to find.  I also altered the pattern for a taller pot so I could make bread.

A great idea for a camp kitchen

"Once you have a well outfitted chuck box your once lengthy camping checklist turns into only a few items with the grub box being one of them, so the 'getting ready to go' camping hassle is gone forever. And you won't forget any key items anymore because things are always there in your grub box just waiting for you. "

This site sells the box premade, you can order a kit or you can download a pattern to build your own.  There are a couple of different versions of it, and videos explaining how it goes together.  I think it is a great idea for keeping organized while camping and having a "portable" kitchen.
